A gifted software architect, Andy balances the detailed demands of software engineering with a big-picture perspective. In his 20+ years developing systems for financial services, energy, and telecom companies, he has learned the importance of stepping back from a project's minutiae to ask, "What's the overriding goal here?” Which is sometimes more appropriately stated as, “what has everyone screaming like their hair is on fire?"
Andy recently completed his M.S. in Software Engineering at Portland State University and decided to return to Ireland, where he monitors the interaction between bad weather and pub attendance (a continuation of studies started in Portland). Outside of work, he competes for bathroom access with his wife and four kids and does his best to keep what's left of the record industry afloat by converting hard-earned cash into over-priced vinyl.
